The Bellville Civic Centre, a unique Bellville heritage building, more popularly known as the Bellville Civic Theatre, is in the centre of Cape Town’s Northern suburbs. The venue consists of an auditorium, a banqueting hall and a conference room.
Restore Bellville’s Architectural Heritage
It is important to uphold the unique architecture and design of the Civic Centre building. For the people of Bellville, this much-needed restoration means residents in the second metropolitan node of Cape Town can finally enjoy one of their most important architectural landmarks.
Previous restoration work at the Bellville Clock Tower included completely removing, rewiring, repairing, servicing, and re-installing the motors within all four clock faces, as well as giving the tower and its base a fresh coat of paint.
Following these restorations at the Bellville Civic Centre, an installation of new lighting was deployed that aligns with the City’s Visible Improvement Programme (VIP), a venture dedicated to enhancing the aesthetics of buildings and public spaces.
“Public lighting plays a pivotal role in urban management and regeneration. It not only stimulates the night-time economy and elevates the aesthetics of public and private spaces but also contributes to a reduction in crime and accidents. The installation of new lights in Bellville represents a commitment to making the city safer, more inviting, and economically vibrant,” said Alderman James Vos, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth. The Economic Growth Directorate is funding the ‘better. bellville. together.’ Programme.
