Bellville PTI columns renewed with colourful art

Transformation is visible at the Bellville PTI, as it embraces upcycled waste to beautiful art. This project was completed this week, adding another eight columns with artworks that positively reshape the visual appearance of the space within the PTI.

This project is part of the city-funded place-making initiative, better. together. together. launched late February 2023 – in the Bellville CBD, as part of the better. together. campaign geared towards economic growth.

The City in partnership with the Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP), aims to transform Bellville into a region primed for economic growth. This objective involves creating and modelling an environment that is attractive for investment and beneficial for its community.

These captivating artworks created by artist Monique, born from discarded materials sourced from “separate at-source bins around the PTI and waste collection schools programme, exemplify the transformative power of recycling. A significant amount of waste was meticulously collected to fuel the creation of these masterpieces.

The aim of this community-driven project is to reimagine public spaces with creativity and environmental consciousness. The purpose of these recycled creations is to bring character to the area, fostering a sense of pride and belonging among Bellville residents and commuters.
