Kruskal Avenue is a busy pedestrian thoroughfare that connects the Bellville public transport interchange with the Bellville CBD. The Bellville CBD has long been a busy hub for commuters and businesses, and the City of Cape Town is working to uplift the area with various better. bellville. together. placemaking initiatives.

These projects are upgrading Kruskal Avenue, a major pedestrian route from Bellville Station into Bellville CBD- one of the first major upgrades of the project. Along with this, the work to renew and clean-up Bellville includes Lower Blanckenberg Street and will extend from Cross Street (south of Voortrekker Road) to Bellville Station. The aim is to create an active walkway – the ‘Walk Together’ route – that improves the pedestrian environment in the area.

Future upgrades may include installation of potential new lighting, benches, bins, paving, gardens, irrigation and public art, as well as removal of illegal posters and graffiti.
