On 7 February 2024 the better. bellville. together. waste team collaborated and empowered the South African Police Service Station in Bellville with sustainable waste management strategic training in a workshop. The workshop was facilitated by Candice Mostert, along with Monique Muller, where they taught the station personnel how to effectively separate waste and understand different waste categories.
They were educated on the importance of proper segregation to ensure that each type of waste is handled and disposed of appropriately, minimising environmental impact and maximising resource recovery.
Moreover, the facilitators organised a system for waste collection and provided resources to facilitate waste separation. This included practical guidance on setting up designated bins or containers for different waste types, implementing sorting procedures, and establishing collection schedules. By implementing these practices, the South African Police Service Station in Bellville can streamline their waste management processes.
The joint effort aims to cultivate a reliable waste management system, enhancing sustainability and operational efficiency for the station.
Through training sessions and shared expertise, the team has equipped the station on Voortrekker Road with the tools and knowledge needed to manage waste responsibly.
Together, we’re fostering a cleaner and greener environment while supporting local institutions in their commitment to community welfare.
This project is part of the city-funded place-making initiative better. together. launched late February 2023 in the Bellville CBD, as part of the better. together. campaign geared towards economic growth.
The city, in partnership with the Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP), aims to transform Bellville into a region ready for economic growth. The objective for better. bellville. together. focuses on creating and modelling an environment that is attractive for investment and beneficial to its community.
