In Bellville, excitement fills the air as we witness the creation of a monumental Springbok mural on the Bell Cape building. This public art project is done by urban artist Diana Tinkerbell, as part of the better. bellville. together. initiative.
The better. bellville.together. Initiative is a groundbreaking City-funded project aimed at revitalising the Bellville region through community engagement and sustainable practices. Since its launch in February 2023, the campaign has already made significant strides in promoting economic development, fostering community cohesion, and enhancing the environmental sustainability of the area.
As we approach the Bell Cape building on Blanckenberg Street, the scale of the mural is extraordinary. Together, we are creating something uniquely Bellville that also honours our national Springbok rugby heroes.
Diana Tinkerbell shared with us her sense of responsibility in creating the most beautiful mural yet for the community, marking her largest endeavour to date. She expressed her desire for the mural to bring a sense of togetherness, radiating brightness and happiness throughout the community. She emphasised that bringing in colour was crucial to achieving this vibrant and uplifting atmosphere.
We are grateful to Bell Cape for their unwavering support and partnership and making the space available to make this mural possible and we want to call on other Bellville building owners to partner with our team. Let’s colour Bellville!
